Hope you enjoy this 1st episode of the “Investing with the Whales” podcast with Jared Isaacman, Founder & CEO of Shift4. You can learn more about his company at Shift4.com
We have lots of great interviews coming up so please subscribe to our YouTube channel. December is always a tricky month for getting interviews but we’ll do our best and then we expect to be doing 8-10 episodes per month starting in January.
If there are any great investors or CEOs you’d like me to interview, please feel free to reach out and let me know.
Special thanks to our two sponsors: TradeZero and Lupton Capital
Several people have asked me where the name “Investing with the Whales” came from so I’ll try to explain in several bullet points:
Obviously my first name is Jonah and if you’re familiar with the book in the bible by the same name then you’re aware of the story that Jonah was swallowed by a whale (or big fish).
I’ve been a big fan of whales my whole life; I find them fascinating animals plus having grown up on Cape Cod I’ve been on several whale watching trips where I’ve seen these massive creatures up close and personal. It’s quite the experience.
Large investors are sometimes referred to as “whales” because they can be very influential considering the amount of capital they manage plus the credibility they’ve built up over their career. I suppose you could say the same thing about CEOs of publicly traded companies. Since these are the two groups of people I’m hoping to interview for this podcast I thought incorporating “whales” was very appropriate.
Of course the name is a little corny but hopefully it’s memorable and in the world of podcasting (which has gotten insanely large) I think it’s a good thing to be memorable.
I’m going to try and keep my podcasts under 25 minutes. I’ll do my best to ask as many relevant questions as possible to help all of us in our investment/company due diligence process.
I hope everyone has a profitable week and a wonderful Thanksgiving with their friends and family.
Regards,
Jonah Lupton
